Getting to Socotra Island  

right now is possible to fly through Cairo with Yemenia Airline to Suyun  and then fly  to Socotra with Yemenia airlines .

Note  currently one airline company operate to/from Socotra per weekYemenia airline every Wednesday to/from Socotra ( Route: Cairo - Socotra-Cairo ) stopover Suyun , but passengers stay in the plane.. 


Visa Matters

Yemeni visa regulations have been changed several times and obtaining entry visa upon arrival was canceled in February 2010.It is necessary for non-Yemeni passport holders to obtain an entry visa to go to Yemen whether the trip is for tourism or business.

·         Therefore, you must get your entry visa in advance at the Yemeni embassy or consulate in your home country. The procedure however is not complicated and almost any nationality should be able to get an entry visa You only need an Invitation Letter from travel/tourism company who is organizing the trip. Normally, the visitor is given one month residence permit. 

For your convenience Socotra Tours  is able to issue visas for its clients in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yemen. Just send us the colorful copy of your passport by email.The issuing process will require about 5 - 7 days to be completed. Once the entry visa is issuing and ready,  Socotra Tours  will email you an electronic copy of the original visa. The original copy will be handed to you by our visa sponsor upon your arrival and he will assist you at immigration office at the airport.


When To Go To Socotra                                                 
Climate is an important consideration. And this depends on your interest.
October to December:  This is the best tourism season and suitable for nature enthusiasts, since weather and climate and in this time the island puts on a fresh green coat after the monsoon season. The climate is mild with a chance of an odd shower.

 January till March is considered also as the best time for visiting the island due to the weather is not too hot yet and the sea is crystalline. 

March to May:  Temperatures usually rise above 37 C, but the sea in this period of the year very calm and visibility is excellent and it is the best period for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving in Socotra Island, relaxing on the very pure white sandy beaches of Socotra islands.

Generally, wildlife and natural viewing is most rewarding from the end of January through May.

Avoid the monsoon season from June till September when strong winds sweep the island. However, if you are a surfing enthusiast coming in July or August when wind is growing in speed and waves are getting higher.
